Biscarrosse, situated in the south of the bay of Arcachon is the largest municipalitythe departement of Landes, on approximately 20 000 hectares. Between the lakes and the ocean, the city is constitued  of three parts: Biscarrosse Ville, Biscarrosse Beach, and Biscarrosse Lake. There are 13500 citizens witch decuplate during the summer. City caracterised by flowers and nature, the forest, the natural coasts the quality of the sea water is preserved. Also the city received an award of "4 Flowers" at the championship of Flower City.

Biscarosse Ville :

With its shops, Square Marsan in the center, its brankly market , Biscarrosse  Vile is the nerve of the municipality. Its story and its origins  are redrawn to the "Museum of Tarditions and Story". A part of past is also read to the Museum of Hydraviation.

Biscarrosse Plage :

The first constructions date of the beginning of the 19th century. Recent sea resort, Biscarrosse Plage didn't stop getting bigger , without giving into the concrete , to become an inescapable site  for lovers of beautifull waves for swimming and surfing , in the rollers of the ocean.

Its pedestrian city center , its roads of walk on the dune, its 15 km of sandy beaches fine welcome the tourists liking the walks and the open air. Its holy church Ste Bernadette has got the particularity to show a fish in the top of the bell tower.

The Lakes :

The north lake: lake of Biscarrosse, Cazaux, Sanguinet, of a surface of 5600 hectares, is the second biggest lake of France, after the lake of Houtin. Natural lake of fresh water, formed approximately 4000 years agoit's presently a paradise surrounded with greenery and pines. Lined with beaches of fine sand agremented of car parks shaded on 4 km and followed by the cycle track, it became a heaven of peace where the leisure activities are many. With a quiet and transparent water which reaches 28 ° in summer, a weak pepth in edge of beach and two zones of watched bathing, its three sites welcome you: Conche d'Ispa, near immediate of the golf, Maguide, with its ports, its nautical activities, its beach, its restaurants and its activities for children. Finally Navarosse , who counts campings, port, and an area of camping.

If the fishing is practice on the 3 lakes, it's in the "Petit Lac" that the fishermen will find the ideal frame in the practice of their passion. Of a surface of 100 hectares,, it's connected with the south lake and with the north lake by the transaquitain channel.

The south lake, of a surface of 3400 hectares, is appreciated for its peace and its small beach. The fishing , the sail, the windsurfing board are practised there.

The leasures activities of the lake :

From a simple stroll in the forest overhanging the lake, to the practice of sail, canoé, upward parachute, waterskiing or still the dive or the fishing, there's one thousand manners to discover Biscarrosse.

The Channel :

Created in 1834 by bankers of Bordeaux, the "Transaquitain Channel"  dug since the bay of Arcachon, until Mimizan, connects three lakes of Biscarrosse.With a widh 10 meters and a dept of 4 meters it allows the sailors to pass from a lake to the other one.

The Forest :

Afforested in 75 % , Biscarrosse extends over 19247 hectares. The national forest managed by the ONF occupies the biggest part. The principale forest  is natural, inherited from the highest antiquity, is called "Mountain" because it's a succession of prumary and formers dunes.

The Curch :

Built between the XIV th and the XVth century, enlarged in XVI th century, the inside is made on "garluche ", a stone of the country, and the vaults are made on pink brick. We can admire altars and keystones: St Martin, St Luc, St Jean, St Michel.

The Castel :

Situated near the curch St Martin, the castel of Montbron was  a relay of hunting of Prince Edward , Prince of Galls. Dating the 12th century and transformed in the 17th century, it contained originally 4 towers. It dosen't visit.

THE LEGEND OF THE ELME :

This old elme of more than 650 years as fornerly , the tree of justice. Placed in front of the church, it's the only one old elme. The legend tells that, during the english occupation, during the War of 100 years, a young shepperdess was accused wrongly to have betrayed her fiancé Pierre with an english officer. She was condemnedby the Council to be exposed, bare, in front of the Tree of Justice , during a whole day. In the night, she died of shame. Since that day, every spring, a white crown on the trunk of the elme in sign of innocence.

The Casino :

Situated near the ocean, the casino, with its gambling machines and its 2 tables of balls welcomes you for a nice moment of relaxation and pleasure.

The golf :

Situated in front of north lake, the golf proposes you two courses of ç and 18 holes, in the forest.

Restaurants :

Biscarrosse can propose a lot of restaurants . Come and taste seafoods or local specialities !

The museum :

The Museum is situated  to Biscarrosse, 332 avenue Louis Breguet, and is every day opened : the summer from 10 am to 6 pm, and the winter from 2pm to 6 pm. It tells the story of Hydraviation since the precursor until comtemporary time? Let us not forget that it's in this region that "Latécoère factories " knew here in border of the pond of Biscarrosse their hours of glory. We discover the story of the seaplane and of the airmail. Dices the beginning of the visit a video projection redraws the epic. The exhibition collects an important quantity of documents, objects, archives, the memories of famous pilots and builders , models, photos, engines and helixes, etc... At the end of the visit , we discover avast hall where is explained  a Widgean of the last war.
